In a move to support the brave soldiers of Haryana, the state government has announced the launch of the Jai Jawan Awas Yojana, a housing scheme aimed at providing affordable homes to active and retired soldiers of the state. This initiative reflects Haryana’s longstanding tradition of contributing significantly to India’s armed forces, with over 89,000 active soldiers serving from the state.

Who Can Benefit from Jai Jawan Awas Yojana?

This housing scheme is exclusively for soldiers and ex-servicemen who are residents of Haryana. However, only those without existing houses are eligible to apply for this scheme. Soldiers who already own homes will not qualify for this benefit. The state government is yet to release detailed guidelines about the application process and implementation timeline.

Haryana to Launch Veer Udaan Scheme

In addition to the housing scheme, the Haryana government is also working on the Veer Udaan Yojana, which is designed to assist retired soldiers in transitioning to civilian careers. Under this scheme, ex-servicemen will receive:

    • Business Training: Specialized training to help them acquire entrepreneurial skills.
    • Skill Certificates: Official recognition of the skills learned during their training.
    • Financial Assistance: A direct benefit transfer of ₹50,000 to help them establish their ventures.

The scheme also aims to connect retired soldiers with private-sector employment opportunities after completing their training.

Agniveers to Get Government Jobs and Loans

The Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini has reaffirmed his earlier promise of providing government jobs to Agniveers (firefighters) in the state. The government will also extend an interest-free loan of up to ₹10 lakh for five years to support them in achieving financial stability and starting businesses.

    Haryana’s Commitment to Soldiers

Haryana has consistently shown its commitment to the welfare of its soldiers and ex-servicemen through various schemes and initiatives. The launch of the Jai Jawan Awas Yojana, Veer Udaan Yojana, and support for Agniveers reflects the state’s dedication to honoring and empowering its military personnel, ensuring they lead secure and dignified lives after their service.
